INCH have been working closely with the Gatehouse Development Initiative to develop plans for a new build community housing scheme on a prominent, long standing, brown field site on arrival into Gatehouse of Fleet.  The development, which is currently in planning, will deliver seven much needed affordable rent properties for the community to help retain local young people and key workers.

The development is designed to create a frontage onto the High Street and act as a gateway into the town. The buildings are proposed to reflect and complement the character of the local conservation area, utilising materiality, colour, texture and form to create a distinctive language.  The site strategy has been developed to overcome both flooding and contamination concerns.  Extensive flood risk modelling and options appraisals have been considered to develop the proposals, the elevated approach will alleviate the new properties from any potential flood water risks.
