Ardrossan Ferry Terminal Reference Design | Ardrossan
INCH Architecture have provided the reference design for Ardrossan ferry terminal. The terminal building sits within a remodelled harbour design and reconfigured vehicle and marine infrastructure.
Working in close conjunction with the operational team, the building design was formed around the legibility of key strategic movement from both outside and within the building. The procedures of arrival and departure define the diagram for the building and have ultimately created the spaces within.
A large double-height ticket hall flooded with natural light forms the arrival for those departing. This space is wrapped by a slow elongated timber clad stair leading to the departure lounge. These two principle spaces use key views towards Horse Island and back over Ardrossan to connect the building back into its context.
