Arnotdale House

Remodelling of a Grade B-listed building into a hub

Arnotdale House | Falkirk
Cyrenians

INCH worked with Cyrenians on proposals to transform Arnotdale House creating a community space that supports a café, events/meeting space and office accommodation for social businesses. These functions generate income, providing long-term sustainability while also delivering work experience and volunteering opportunities.

The renovated building will also provide expanded office space for the employability work and peer mentoring offered by Cyrenians for those that have been involved with the criminal justice system.

The response to the brief, the existing building, and its current setting within the park has resulted in a re-assessment of ‘fronts and backs’ to allow the building to sit comfortably within the park and its current uses. A new entrance to what previously was the rear of the building, but now faces the primary approach provides accessible routes, and a public scale entrance sequence, leading to a new circulation spine though the building which ensures easy flow to ground floor public functions.

New openings encourage connection to the landscape, and promotion of the building as an asset within the park landscape.

Delivery of the project on site by Falkirk Council.
